We have BIG news.

We're pleased to announce that Candice Bassett has been named co-director of Piney Hills Harmony Chorus. She will share co-director duties with Sheila Nugent, who has directed PHHC since 2010.

"I'm very excited to begin working with Candice," Sheila said, "and I’m looking forward to new adventures as a co-directing team. I have great respect for her abilities and experience with Sweet Adelines.

"With the increased duties that came with my new job as principal of Glen View Elementary, I knew that the time I could devote to the chorus - one of the true loves in my life - would be more limited. So I approached the Board of Directors with the idea of co-directors. They quickly went about setting up the audition process, and everyone has jumped on board. I feel as if we are all off on a grand new journey."

If thinking similar thoughts when asked separately about the appointment is any indication that these two will work well together, we're in luck.

Candice said: "I'm excited to have been chosen as co-director of Piney Hills Harmony. I greatly admire Sheila Nugent as a director and have enjoyed learning from her as a singer. As I continue to grow in my Sweet Adelines journey, my hope is that I will to be able to contribute to and help build on the success our chorus has achieved so far. May we be able to harmonize and gather together in person soon because this is why we're Sweet Adelines."

Candice joined Piney Hills Harmony as a dual member in 2018. Other Sweet Adelines experience includes 11 years' membership with Southern A Cappella Sound Chorus, where she served as assistant director; competing internationally with both Twin City Sensations and Top of the Rock; and singing baritone in Forte! quartet.

Multiple people applied and auditioned for the position.
