OUR DIRECTOR:

 

SheilaNugentHeadshotInterim Director Sheila S. Nugent has been Piney Hills Harmony’s assistant director since 2006 and has been  a member of Sweet Adelines since 2003.  She has served the chorus in a number of roles, including President, board of directors member, bass section leader, member of the choreography team and Music Staff. For her outstanding contributions to Piney Hills Harmony, Sheila was voted chorus Sweet Adeline of the Year in 2004.

Sheila regularly attends Sweet Adeline regional music camps and seminars, as well as international competitions.  Along with other Piney Hills chorus members, she competed at the international competition in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 2007 as a dual member of Top of the Rock Chorus.  She sings baritone in her quartet, Lux, along with fellow PHHC member Mary Jo Brister and Rich Tone Chorus members Virginia Fitzpatrick and Natalie Miller.

Sheila has a deep admiration for Sweet Adelines International and for Piney Hills Harmony Chorus in particular.  “I love the close-knit, familial relationship that our chorus has,” she says.  “The love and warmth that our chorus members show each other is unbelievable.  It is truly an honor to be part of such a talented, giving group of women.”

Sheila is a curriculum strategist at Simsboro High School.  She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education at Louisiana Tech University and lives in Ruston with her husband, Kevin, and stepdaughter, Madeline. 

 

 

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:

Teresa Howard

Teresa Howard has been in the chorus for 6 years and  has been a Speech Pathologist for 25 years.  She has served as one of the assistant directors for 2 years and on the choreography team for 3 years.  She is pursuing the Director Certification Program (DCP) that is offered through Sweet Adelines International.  She has attended numerous educational symposiums and music camps, as well as regional and international competitions.  Teresa is a dual member of PHHC and Top of the Rock Chorus in Little Rock, Arkansas and has sung on the International Stage!  Teresa sings lead in the new PHHC quartet, Take Four.   She says she is obsessed wtih Barbershop singing and states “It’s a wonderful hobby to pursue!”
