Piney Hills Harmony Chorus invited area women to its rehearsal Thursday, Jan. 26, as part of a Global Open House called "Teach the World to Sing." We'd like you to know that the invitation still stands! Every one of our rehearsals is an "open house."

The global event was designed to better acquaint women with what Sweet Adelines has to offer in regard to membership. All across the world in January 2012, Sweet Adelines International choruses joined together to welcome potential members and friends. Sweet Adelines boasts approximately 25,000 members in more than 500 choruses in 12 countries.

Women of all ages who enjoy singing were - and are! - invited to experience the exhilaration of performing and creating four-part harmony. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, can find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders. The music includes special arrangements of today’s ballads and upbeat songs, popular show tunes and even jazz. Members say that singing the satisfying sounds of barbershop harmony provides a rich, rewarding experience. Members of Sweet Adelines International share fun social activities, an enlarged circle of friends and exciting performance opportunities. Our regular rehearsals are at 6 p.m. each Thursday in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 212 N. Bonner. (We enter through the door that adjoins the breezeway at the back of the building.)

Piney Hills Harmony Chorus is an extraordinary group of women who gather together in celebration of the art form known as barbershop music. We are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. Our director is Sheila Nugent. She inspires us to reach new heights with each performance. We can be heard throughout the year, singing for civic and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, community events, and fundraisers.

We have an annual show in the fall or winter, and in an effort to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest level possible, we compete each year in a regional contest.
